At Tree of Life Counseling Services, we are committed to shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. As a practice led by counselor educators, we understand how to effectively support, mentor, and develop counselors-in-training. We offer both practicum and internship opportunities, providing a diverse and enriching clinical experience. Our internship program upholds the highest ethical and professional standards, ensuring that trainees feel supported as they navigate their development as clinicians. Interns gain hands-on experience in a structured, educational environment that fosters growth, confidence, and competence. The program is directed by Kristen Phillips, Ed.S, LPC, NCC, CAADC, ACS and EMDR-trained, who brings extensive experience in counselor education. Kristen has played a vital role in training master's-level counseling students at Wayne State University, serving as a graduate teaching assistant for three years and as an adjunct instructor. Interns also benefit from the expertise of our highly skilled team:

Each clinician brings a unique set of specialties, allowing interns to gain experience with a diverse client population and a variety of therapeutic approaches. Internship & Practicum Placement Update — Fall & Winter Semesters

We are no longer accepting applications for May 2026 internship or practicum placements. At this time, we have more pending applicants than available placement spots for that semester.

We are also approaching capacity for Fall 2026. Any remaining openings will be limited and will depend on fit, program requirements, and site availability. Flexibility with location and scheduling is essential for Fall consideration.

Our primary intern placement locations include Rochester, Clinton Township, Oxford, Novi, Commerce, and Taylor. If you are interested in a Fall 2026 placement, we encourage you to reach out soon.

Please note: Tree of Life only accepts practicum students and internship students from CACREP accredited programs.
