At Tree of Life Counseling Services, we are committed to shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. As a practice led by counselor educators, we understand how to effectively support, mentor, and develop counselors-in-training. We offer both practicum and internship opportunities, providing a diverse and enriching clinical experience. Our internship program upholds the highest ethical and professional standards, ensuring that trainees feel supported as they navigate their development as clinicians. Interns gain hands-on experience in a structured, educational environment that fosters growth, confidence, and competence. The program is directed by Kristen Phillips, Ed.S, LPC, NCC, CAADC, ACS and EMDR-trained, who brings extensive experience in counselor education. Kristen has played a vital role in training master's-level counseling students at Wayne State University, serving as a graduate teaching assistant for three years and as an adjunct instructor. Interns also benefit from the expertise of our highly skilled team:

• Megan Valore, MA, LPC
• Karen Broski, MA, LPC, NT

Each clinician brings a unique set of specialties, allowing interns to gain experience with a diverse client population and a variety of therapeutic approaches. Internship Placement Update — Fall Semester

We are excited to announce that we currently have two remaining openings for fall internship placements. Please note that these are internship-only positions — we are no longer accepting practicum placements for the fall semester.The two available placements are located at:

• Clinton Township
• Rochester

These will serve as the interns’ primary locations, with the possibility of additional hours available at other Tree of Life Counseling Services sites if needed.If you are interested in one of these final internship openings, we encourage you to reach out soon, as spots are limited.
