Counseling orientation and Philosophy: Francesca’s theoretical foundation is based on an integrative approach, drawing from various theoretical orientations including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory, and humanistic-existential approaches, as well as client centered approaches. She believes that we can control the course of our lives and take ownership of our decisions. In her counseling approach, she utilizes direct theoretical techniques to aid the client in developing self-awareness. Francesca attaches great importance to the fact that counseling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and the client to support change. A collaborative counseling approach improves communication, increases positive results, guides treatment, and—most importantly—discovers the client's objectives. Because of this, the counselor provides a secure environment for their clients and attends to their needs. Every client receives support that is specifically tailored to meet their needs. There are different counseling modalities, therefore she will work with the client to find the one that will help them most effectively.
Areas of specialty: Francesca has assisted adults and adolescents in individual therapy sessions with concerns regarding anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma-related difficulties, anger management and adjusting to life struggles.

Making the decision to start therapy can be a difficult and intimidating process, and I create a warm environment to help ease into the counseling journey. I believe the client is the expert in their own life, and my role as your counselor is to be your helper, not your expert. Through identifying patterns of thoughts and behavior as well as using therapeutic tools and strategies, my clients can learn to cope with any challenge they may face.
My counseling approach is defined as eclectic, individualizing my approach with each unique person. My primary therapeutic orientations include elements of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution focused techniques, allowing the client to explore their situation and empower them to identify any roadblocks that are affecting them negatively and seek answers within themselves to meet their goals.
I enjoy working with a variety of clients, primarily children, adolescents, young adults, and veterans. I have experience dealing with presenting issues including: adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, children of divorce, LGBT+ issues, and career counseling.
I have a Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University, with a dual focus on clinical mental health and school counseling. I am a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC), and receive direct supervision under a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I also hold a full school counseling license (SCL). I received my Bachelor’s of Science from Oakland University, with a concentration in Health Sciences.

Counseling Philosophy: Counseling is a sacred space where you can freely express yourself authentically. I believe it is important to discuss issues or obstacles that you are currently experiencing, or to simply express matters that are ongoing. There are no matters too big or too small. Everything that means something to you is important and worth bringing up in sessions.
Counseling Orientation: My approach consists of multiple proven techniques and making use of different theorist styles. I like to focus on how thoughts, feelings and behaviors work together so I often make use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, I will tailor the sessions to you and your needs. I believe it helps to have support when working through personal goals and I will be as committed as you are to reach them. I also include mindfulness and meditation into my sessions as these techniques are useful skills to add to daily life.
Area of Specialty: I work with adolescents and adults from a variety of backgrounds, demographics, and diagnosis. I have experience working with clients of various ages and within diverse populations. The focus is to support clients that are navigating through areas of anxiety and depression, adjustment and transition-related factors, passage through grief, as well as boundaries and self-esteem work. Motivational interviewing is another approach that I find to be a great tool for clients.

Counseling Philosophy
My goal is to establish a safe and secure space where clients are free to be themselves. I will create a trusting relationship so that clients are free to express their thoughts and feel the full breadth of their emotions without judgment. This relationship is here for you so that you are able to work through the obstacles that are preventing you from finding contentment in your relationships, career and life. We will work towards finding a more peaceful you, even amidst the chaos of life.
Counseling Orientation
I work with each client to create a treatment plan best suited to their needs and goals. Throughout therapy, this plan will mold to the individual so that they are able to integrate therapeutic practices on their own. In this way, clients become more self-reliant and able to graduate from therapy with a therapeutic toolbox to carry into all of life. This is a person-centered approach with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy. This includes assessing the thoughts and automatic beliefs that keep us stuck in patterns that are not helpful.

Life presents us all with challenges. Talking through those challenges can prevent long standing issues from developing. Also, untangling the past through therapy can bring about unparalleled and lasting healing. I use a person-centered approach with clients that includes unconditional positive regard and compassion. The theorical leanings I tend toward are existentialism, humanistic and Internal Family systems. The quality of our relationships impacts our lives on so many levels. My hope is that we can build a trusting relationship to work out the tangles that life has thrown your way so that it can become more fulfilling and less burdensome. The folks that enjoy working with me are retirees, those coping with chronic illnesses, and young adults.
