Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, substance use, and/or other mental health diagnosis, I want to provide a safe environment for you so you can overcome your struggles. We will work together to attain your short- and long-term goals, fulfill your personal growth, increase self-love and worth, discover your purpose, and learn and implement new coping mechanisms.
I have spent the last 18 months working with teens that are on the Autism spectrum, but also who have emotional and behavioral problems. In addition, to working with teens, I have also worked with the Cancer population, patients, caregivers, and family members grieving their identity and loved ones. Grief is a complex attribute that can alter someone’s life in a moment and I would like to help you.
My interest lies within helping individuals confront their anxiety, depression, and grief. I want to become an extra support system for you as you work through these conditions and periods of life.
I am a limited licensed counselor and art therapist. I want to create an environment for self-exploration and expression. I have an integrative approach when it comes to treating clients. Every client is different and you deserve the best care in therapeutic techniques and interventions, which are personalized for every individual that I see. These include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered, solution-focused, existential, and humanistic approaches.
My main focus is to build a healthy and supportive relationship with you, so that you achieve your goals.

My approach to therapy is based in person-centered and emotionally focused therapy. I believe that the counseling process is collaborative between the client and the counselor. I will work to provide a non-judgemental and safe space for my clients so that they feel they can explore their thoughts and actions, and discover things about themselves they may not know. Once the client has gained insight over their thoughts and behaviors, I use a cognitive behavioral approach to therapy to work with the client in working through and changing their negative thought patterns and behaviors. I also use a trauma-focused approach while working with clients who present with a trauma history. This allows the client and I to work through their trauma history together and work towards overcoming the symptoms they may be experiencing today from the trauma. There is not a single approach to therapy that works best for clients, and this is why I take an integrative approach to therapy to work with my clients in finding the technique that works the best for them.
I am a Limited Licensed Counselor in the state of Michigan. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts from Albion College with a major in psychology, and I obtained my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University. I have also obtained my trauma certification and am qualified to integrate trauma therapy in counseling sessions. I gained clinical experience working with clients during my practicum and internship classes. During internship, I gained experience working in the private practice setting working with a variety of clients, and I gained experience from an additional internship site working in the community mental health setting and leading group counseling sessions. I also have experience working in private practice as an outpatient mental health therapist after graduation.
I have experience working with clients with anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, depression, specific phobias, and trauma. I have experience working with clients from the ages of 9 and up. Regardless of your race, religion, ethnicity, or gender identity, I look forward to getting to know you and starting the counseling journey together.

Counseling Philosophy
Life is too short to let trauma control us or be anxious all the time. I want you to be free of emotional pain and to find meaning/purpose in all areas of your life. I can help you find healing and understanding in desperate situations while enjoying the process as much as possible. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story and each story is compelling.
Counseling Orientation
In terms of therapeutic technique and strategy, one size definitely does not fit all. I often use Integrative therapy which involves selecting the techniques from different types of therapy that are best suited to a client's particular problem. I work with clients from a broad range of backgrounds. I work with pre-teens, teens, and adults. I also work with clients who would like to incorporate faith into the therapeutic process only through the request/desire of my client. My goal in therapy is to create a safe, non-judgmental, empowering, & empathetic space. I specialize in Trauma and PTSD, Life Transitions, Codependency, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, and childhood traumas. Together we will work on developing coping skills, problem-solving skills & different ways of thinking to help you work through life’s challenges. Calling a therapist can be nerve-wracking, but I hope you will take a moment to reach out and see how I can help you.

Counseling Philosophy:
Everyone we encounter is a product of the intersections in their lives. We as humans are extremely complex so it is difficult to reduce an individual to simply one label. If humans are that complex, that also means our journey toward growth and healing can be just as complex. Facing our growing edges day to day can feel overwhelming, sometimes it helps to have someone there to bounce ideas off of, emphasize our strengths, and uncover our blind spots along the way. My goal first and foremost is to provide a safe, welcoming, authentic environment for you to explore all of these things without fear of judgment.
Counseling Orientation:
My approach to counseling consists of an integrative lens that emphasizes intersectionality, authenticity, self-actualization, and ultimately congruency. I gravitate toward a number of theoretical frameworks including, but not limited to humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, somatic, and queer feminist perspectives. At the end of the day, the counseling process is a collaborative journey to achieve the agreed-upon therapy milestones. The therapy you receive is always personalized based on your individual goals and needs.
Areas of Specialties:
I work with a wide array of clients where we can openly explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, trauma, grief, issues related to traumatic brain injury, stress management, addiction, identity exploration, LGBTQIA+, family dynamics, and overall life transitions. I work well with all ages and demographics.
Qualifications:
I am currently a Limited Licensed Counselor who practices under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated in the summer of 2022 with my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University. In conjunction with counseling, I have a wealth of experience working in Neurotherapy for six years, including neurofeedback, neuromodulation, and biofeedback. My background also consists of work within the non-profit and music sectors. I am currently a standing member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Counseling Philosophy
Difficult and trying times confront us all, as all of us are heavily impacted by our various environments, personal histories, biological traits, and cultural expectations. It is no wonder that we can be overwhelmed by the difficulties life presents. Nevertheless, although life can be difficult, learning new coping strategies can help us become better at handling the hard stuff, helping us discover ways of personal wellness and growth despite the difficulties.
Counseling Orientation
I personally have benefited greatly from counseling. My past experiences inspired my passion to develop the skills to help others as I was once helped. Empathy is the primary pillar of the counseling profession. Thus, I believe creating a non-judgmental and confidential space, where complex emotions and fears are discussed and normalized, is the recipe for counseling success. I use a vast variety of techniques and theories to encourage clients to build self-awareness and self-advocacy. Each client is unique, therefore each counseling experience is unique. There is no singular theory or technique that works for everyone.
Qualifications
I am a Limited License Counselor (LLC). Subsequent to my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2009, I completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling with a specialization in substance abuse from Wayne State University in 2015. Along with my experience with adolescents, I also have worked with adults facing various issues, from anxiety and depression to grief and relationship issues.
Office Location: Cassandra holds in-person appointments out of our Livonia office as well as telehealth appointments.
Email cassandra@treeoflifecounselingservices.com to schedule an appointment directly with Cassandra.
Counseling Philosophy
My approach comes with an understanding that people are multifaceted. When challenges arise, there is no cookie-cutter fix for the situation you may be facing as you are unique, and your therapy should be tailored to your needs. Talking about difficult matters can be hard, but it can be a little easier when you know you have someone you can trust to discuss them with. I come to sessions with the goal of being supportive, resourceful, authentic, and empathetic as building rapport with my clients is crucial to the therapeutic alliance.
There is a risk of feeling worse after a session due to opening of old emotional wounds and unrealized issues. If this does arise, please let me know as it is my goal to make the counseling atmosphere a safe place to continue discussion, exploration, and create plans of action.
Therapeutic Orientation
I work with many theoretical foundations like Existential-Phenomenology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy, Object Relations, Family Systems, and Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy. That may mean absolutely nothing to you, and that’s ok! Ultimately, each client’s needs vary, so the theories and approaches I use will be tailored to you and the goals we discuss in treatment together in therapy.

Counseling Philosophy
When it comes to counseling, I know how intimidating it can be to reach out for help but know that making that first initial step is such a powerful effort in taking care of yourself. The most important part of this experience is that you are provided with an environment consisting of empathy, unconditional support and utmost respect so that you are able to achieve your therapeutic goals.
Counseling Orientation
I believe effective therapy recognizes the person as a whole, both our struggles and strengths. I incorporate creative arts and self-expressive interventions along traditional counseling philosophies, such as person-centered, narrative therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to assist you with achieving your therapeutic goals. Above all, my goal is to empower you to make the decisions you feel are right for you, as I truly believe that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we can work towards finding an avenue that will create room for you to discover how to become the best version of yourself. By working together, I hope to make the therapeutic process as comfortable and productive for you as possible.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, etc. to assist people in expressing themselves creatively. Sometimes it is difficult to put into words what your struggles are, and art therapy allows an additional outlet of communication between an individual and their therapist. No artistic talent is necessary for art therapy to be successful. The goal of art therapy is all about exploring the relationship between what you create and what may be going on internally. I truly believe art has the power to be a vehicle for healing, exploration and self-discovery. The use of art therapy in our sessions is not a requirement but always an option.
Areas of Specialty
I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults alike in areas of trauma, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, sexuality and relationships, as well as self-esteem and exploring self-identity.
Qualifications
I am a Limited License Counselor (LLC) and Art Therapist. I have completed a combined Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy.

Life affects us all in a variety of ways, but it’s how we respond to those experiences that determine the type of person we are. Some of those experiences can be painful and traumatic. Truthfully, healing is painful as well, but what is most detrimental is holding on to that pain and trauma. Taking a step in your healing process takes courage. Being here on this page, shows that you’re taking that step towards internal peace and healing. Your experiences contribute to the layers of who you are, however, those layers don't have to become walls and they don't have to linger on in your everyday existence.
As a wife and mother, I developed a deep and distinctive strategies of displaying empathy. I'm passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families of diverse backgrounds and age groups.
In 2017, I earned a BA in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies. From there, I began working with Clients who’ve experienced trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and various forms of abuse and neglect (sexual, physical, mental etc.). This motivated me to become a greater qualified ally to the mental health community. In 2022, I earned a MA of Counseling Education with a dual concentration in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. In alignment with providing a therapeutic environment, I use CBT, Person-centered, and Solution-focused approaches with my clients.
I look forward to collaborating with you to restore your peace and to learn the tools to heal in your own way, on your own time. You are the expert on your life and only you can commence your new journey.

Counseling Philosophy
Everyone has a unique story, perspective, and experience. Sometimes it helps to have someone walk with us to explore our identity, work through life challenges or traumas, and to find fulfillment. I acknowledge that we do not live in a vacuum, there are systemic forces that impact us every day. These efforts we make to improve ourselves and our worlds can feel so daunting alone. Let us create a better world together, starting with you.
Counseling Orientation
I use intersectional, integrative, collaborative, and queer feminist approaches to navigate clients through life challenges and personal development with self-affirmation and actualization.
