Culminating at the intersection of countless factors and identities, our lives are complex, multifaceted, and ever-changing, leaving us with the difficult task of navigating our lived experiences. My goal as a counselor is to help you strengthen your understanding of yourself and equip you with the tools and insight to let you live your most fulfilled life. I look to manifest this reality by holding a space for clients that offers safety and fosters growth.
In the counseling process, I employ an integrative approach, utilizing humanist, existential, and psychodynamic approaches to create an in-depth and multifaceted experience for my clients. Each individual’s life is a unique experience that deserves to be heard and understood. Moreso, the narrative that this life affords us is something we deserve to be in control of. Through a process focused on strengthening both the insight and agency one has over one's own life and narrative, I seek to create a counseling space that encourages growth, empowerment, and inner peace.
I am currently a student in Oakland University’s mental health counseling program, finishing my program as an intern at Tree of Life. I have also completed a BA and MA in communication from Oakland University and worked in many career paths prior. I look forward to utilizing all the insights I have gained over my life experience to enhance my understanding of you and your story.

Hi, I’m Tate Kraemer, a clinical intern at Tree of Life Counseling Services, working towards becoming a licensed counselor.
The populations I work with most include, but are not limited to, adolescents and adults. I utilized a multitude of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and more. I am passionate about helping those who may struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life obstacles. Approaching treatment collaboratively with each client is very important to me. Each individual is different, and what I do with clients is dependent on the individual client and what they need from our time together. I believe that every client has unique set of needs, and the innate ability to grow personally and heal. Creating a safe environment for my clients to feel comfortable, not judged, supported, and heard is vital to the healing journey. I strive to understand and respect each client's individual values and needs, and encourage and empower clients to remain resilient through life’s challenges.
I am currently working towards a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oakland University, which will be complete December of 2024. Prior to this step in my educational journey, I obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Oakland University.

I believe that therapy is a partnership between a counselor and a client, where knowledge and skills are combined to create solutions. A good therapeutic relationship is collaborative and defined by empathy, understanding, trust, nonjudgment, authenticity, and hope. I strive to understand my clients’ experiences through their own personal lens. After all, you know yourself better than anyone, and that makes you your own best resource. My goal is to honor and respect my clients’ lived experiences in a way that makes you open to new ways of thinking.
I believe that all people naturally strive to be the best version of ourselves, but it is inherently difficult to be human. While we may not be able to control the situations in which we find ourselves, we can control our interpretations and reactions. As a counselor, I will provide a safe and accepting environment in which clients feel empowered.
I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health from Oakland University in 2024. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 2006. I believe an individualized approach is the best way to help my clients. I most frequently use Person-Centered Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral techniques integrated in my practice.

Counseling Philosophy
In a therapeutic setting, I strive to provide the space for clients to shed the external expectations of who they should be, and instead find the strength in who they truly are. For those who know exactly what they want to work through, to those who just sense that life does not feel comfortable, I am here to help explore life experiences and how they have shaped the behaviors and emotions in the person one has become. From there we can work together to clarify a brighter path forward.
Counseling Orientation
I typically use an integrated approach, combining methods from person-centered, narrative, cognitive, and existential therapy.
Areas of Specialty: I am focused primarily on adults experiencing life transitions (young adult to adulthood, parenting challenges, loss of physical capabilities due to illness/injury), burnout from emotionally-taxing work and personal obligations, family transitions, as well as depression, anxiety, trauma, and challenges with body and/or self-image.
Office Location: Nadia holds in-person appointments out of our Rochester Hills office, as well as telehealth appointments.
Email nadia@treeoflifecounselingservices.com or call (248) 733-5360 to schedule an appointment.
Every person who enters my office comes with their own unique history, identity, strengths and therapy goals. With this focus, I employ a variety of therapeutic approaches including existential therapy, emotion focused therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method so I can tailor our sessions to your needs.
In our sessions, I will use compassion and unconditional positive regard to create a space where you can bring your whole self. I welcome all clients (both couples and individuals).
My specialization is adults dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma. In our first session, we will go through an intake process where we discuss your presenting issues, your history, your health, my role as a therapist and your goals for therapy. As we continue to work together, we will identify causes, patterns, behaviors, and systems that may be contributing to your issues. We will work together to equip you with the knowledge and self-confidence you need to make changes and develop positive coping strategies to improve your quality of life.
I hold a MA from Oakland University. I am a queer, trans-inclusive intersectional feminist and this ethos underpins my therapeutic practice. I volunteer in my community and believe in the importance of contributing to my community. I also place a great deal of importance on self-care and practice it myself through my love of music, good food, the outdoors, tennis, animals, fantasy novels, ttrpgs and other nerdy pursuits.

The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. As a clinician, it is my goal to help guide you in the right direction of your personal good life. While providing a secure, trustworthy environment for you, together we will work towards the process of building the best version of yourself. While I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Theory in combination with Psychodynamic Theory, my approach is more importantly based on a foundation of empathy, compassion, and respect. I will work collaboratively with you to identify your unique needs and goals, and tailor my interventions to best suit your individual needs.
I work with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds. I also take pride in having a multicultural perspective and being willing to learn about one’s culture and how it influences them. I recognize the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to create a space where clients from all backgrounds feel seen, heard, and valued.
The issues I specialize in are as follows: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and self-esteem issues. I have experience with working with adults, adolescents, and children. I am honored to have the opportunity to potentially work with you and help you navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness.

Most clients seek counseling because they want to create a positive change in their life. Creating change can be both exciting and intimidating. Finding the right counselor to help facilitate that change is crucial. I provide an empathetic, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors while finding ways to create positive change. I work with my clients to build a strong therapeutic relationship so you feel comfortable and empowered during sessions. I believe each client I see is unique and there is no “fix all” approach to counseling; therefore I use an integrative approach to therapy. By using an integrative approach I am able to tailor your treatment to what fits you and your goal(s) the best. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rogerian Therapy with my clients.
I specialize in grief and end of life issues. In addition to my specialty areas I also have experience helping those with depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, and trauma. I work with couples and individuals age 16 and older.

It can be difficult to open up and feel heard, especially when you may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health diagnoses. As a counselor, it is my mission to create a calm, hopeful, and safe space for you to discuss your goals and overcome your struggles. I collaborate with my clients to find solutions and insight, increase self-esteem and personal growth, and learn new and lasting coping mechanisms.
In my practice I often incorporate Person Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Solution-Focused therapy to highlight your strengths and assess where you’d most like to see growth, and challenge those negative thought patterns you may have. Together we can find the best therapeutic approach for you and where you are in this stage of life. It is my belief that through the support and understanding given in a therapeutic relationship, you can find the positive change and healing you are seeking.

Getting Started
The search for support can be a difficult first step. You deserve to find a therapist you feel safe and connected with, whether that's me or someone else. Feel free to reach out for a brief phone consultation to navigate the process of finding the right fit.
My Approach
Motivated by the inherent potential of people and the mysticism of life, I'm driven to help my clients find what works for them. My approach is holistic, fluid, and individualized—so if you want nothing to do with mindfulness, just let me know! Together, we’ll create a safe, judgment-free space to explore your wants and needs. I like to describe therapy as the two of us on a boat: you’re the captain steering the ship, and I’m the passenger helping to navigate. Wherever you're at on your journey, I'm willing to meet you there and support you in reaching your desired destination.
I'm currently offering virtual appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays and in-person visits on Wednesdays. Let me know if you're interested in a nature-based approach, and we can talk about that option on an individual basis.
Counseling Experience
I've spent most of my time working with children and families in the school system and through community mental health. While much of my work has been supporting parents and adolescents, I also have personal and professional experience with anxiety and depression, working with people from age 7 to 67.
The Technical Stuff
If you're looking for support, but not sure what you need, just ask. I'm more than willing to go through the various approaches to therapy to help you discover what's best for you. My approach is generally an eclectic, person-centered mix of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, mindfulness-based, family systems, play and art informed, and trauma-focused therapy. I also offer aspects of wilderness and nature therapy and an eagerness to learn and share the latest advances in the field.

Are you feeling as though you have no one to talk to or no one who is willing to listen to your concerns and frustrations as well as your successes? Listening is one of the most effective ways one can demonstrate empathy to others. I am here to be that someone and to help guide you to be the best version of yourself. I have worked with many diagnoses including Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Trauma, ADHD, and Personality Disorders. I am here to provide a neutral and safe space for my clients.
I use the therapeutic approach that is best for my client. I have often used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Play Therapy. I work on building rapport in the first session so the child, adolescent, or adult feels comfortable during our future sessions.
I specialize in working with children who have depression, anxiety, bullying, anger, and self-esteem issues. This can be a difficult time for loved ones, seeing their child struggle, therefore I work with the parent(s)/guardian(s) and/or family as a whole to help them through not only their child's journey but their own journey as well.

A change in life no matter how small can create a variety of emotions and it can be difficult sometimes to navigate what the next step is. If you feel like you need someone outside of your family or friends to release some of that emotion, I am here for you. My goal as a counselor is to remain neutral in offering guidance to those looking for a safe space to learn about themselves while facing all of life’s moments.
I believe that to see results in working with a counselor, having a common goal and manageable steps towards that goal is critical to evolve adjustments in thinking into life habits. My practice is centered around learning and creating a mental toolbox of strategies that can be used in maneuvering conflicts in all stages of life. These include education and goal setting as well as setting manageable objectives for individual growth. I believe all clients, regardless of age can benefit from enhancing their knowledge on self-awareness and healthy emotional regulation.
My target population is children and adolescents, where I partner with both my client and their guardians to create a space where appropriate collaboration is used to best serve the client’s well-being. I also work with adults both individually and as a couple who are navigating the emotions surrounding major life transitions such as divorce, parenting and grief and loss. I have experience working with diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, childhood adjustment disorders, panic disorders, trauma, and self-harm.
I believe that everyone has a right to advocate for their needs and grow through obstacles in a way that they can understand. I also acknowledge that every client has a different perspective on what healthy living is and respect those boundaries accordingly. Therefore, I use an integrative humanistic theoretical approach that also utilizes narrative and cognitive behavioral tactics. In other words, I help clients organize information within their life into a chronological sequence to understand the connection to their past and implement goal setting using concrete thoughts and behaviors you may already practice to help make adjustments to create a future you can be excited about. Every individual has a story and I want to acknowledge and celebrate each one to continue creating the formative skills needed to live out your future chapters.
I celebrate you for taking this step towards growth for yourself and it is my pleasure to be a part of your team.

Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or are going through a challenging life event, I provide an empathetic, nonjudgmental environment where we can explore and work towards your individual goals.
