Erin Klena, Clinical Mental Health Intern

My approach to counseling is centered around creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe healing happens through connection, self awareness, and learning healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges. I take a holistic approach to therapy by recognizing the connection between the mind and body and understanding how past experiences, relationships, and daily stressors can impact emotional well being.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and also have a background in occupational therapy, which has strengthened my understanding of the emotional, physical, and environmental factors that affect people’s lives. My experience has helped me develop a compassionate and person centered approach while working with individuals across different stages of life, including older adults and families navigating chronic illness and caregiving challenges.

My counseling style integrates techniques from Gestalt therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy , mindfulness, and strength based approaches. I value helping clients increase self awareness, recognize patterns, build confidence, improve emotional regulation, and develop practical coping skills that support lasting growth and change.

I have a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, self esteem, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress management, women’s empowerment, challenges related to single parenting and family dynamics, as well as individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and caregiver burnout. I strive to help clients feel supported while building insight, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

Office Location: I work with clients in-person at the Clinton Township location as well as via telehealth.

Nick Hy, MA, LLC

I see counseling as a partnership formed to collaboratively work through problems. It’s not just talking; counseling is about creating meaningful action towards improvement.

During sessions, my goal is to understand everyone as a unique human being within their own complex life. I have found that flexibility in treatment allows for a more tailored approach to meeting your needs. Finding what works best for you is my priority.

In the rapidly changing and often chaotic world we live in today, it can be hard to make sense of everything. Countless variables, not all of which are obvious, can influence mental health. I aim to consider all aspects of a client’s life to help determine what is most relevant to reaching their goals. Together, we’ll work on integrating what really matters to help you find a path forward.

Through counseling, you can more deeply reflect on how your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings contribute to what is going on in your life. During our sessions, we will explore these underlying processes to get a better understanding of how you see the world.

Ultimately, I take a pragmatic view of counseling and what the experience can do for you. If you’re feeling ready to take the next step, let me know.

Office Location: I offer in-person appointments at our Clinton Township and Rochester Hills offices, as well as telehealth appointments.

Tyler Smith, MA, LLC

Research has shown that the greatest factor leading to successful therapeutic outcomes is the genuine connection between the client and the therapist. I think being open and vulnerable is one of the hardest things a person can learn to do, and together we can look to find better understanding about yourself as well as providing insight so you can get the most out of the counseling process.

I received my master's in clinical Mental Health Counseling through Oakland University. My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered counseling and behavioral therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). However, I take an integrative, holistic approach, tailoring therapy to the individual by drawing from various therapeutic modalities to ensure your true self is being matched. I have a background in working with youths 12-17 and adults of all ages. I have extensive training through suicidality modalities through my time working with 988 as well.

Sometimes it can be hard to find a good fit for these things, let alone finding the courage to send that email, make that phone call, or even sending a text. If anything, I have shared resonated with you, feel free to reach out and we can start this process together.

Office Location: Tyler offers in-person appointments in our Clinton Township office and telehealth appointments. As well as In person for our Royal Oak Location.

Counseling Philosophy & Orientation:

Therapy for me is a process where we work together to find ways for you to feel comfortable in your own skin and live your life in the best way you can. We will work together to tailor your treatment utilizing evidence-based interventions, which can include art therapy, dream analysis, active imagination, guided imagery, word association, cognitive behavioral therapy, Internal Family System (IFS), and mindfulness, among others. I can also provide therapy in Brazilian Portuguese. Being in therapy myself provided me the opportunity to experience both sides of the therapeutic process and the beauty of it. I experienced all of my practices, and I continue to learn with my clients and for my clients. It will be an honor working with you and finding out what therapy is for you.

Qualifications & Areas of Specialty:

I'm an integrative counselor and art therapist with a Jungian theoretical background, with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who might have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma (verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse), anxiety, and depression. I also work with couples struggling with relationship issues.

Lynn Fonacier, LMSW, SSW CTRP-C

Having a genuine trusting therapeutic relationship, in a safe non-judgmental environment, is the foundation I hope to build with my clients. When you’re feeling anxious or depressed sometimes one of the hardest things to do is reach out for help. Being comfortable enough to openly share your thoughts and feelings can ultimately move you forward in your journey toward healing.

I am a fully licensed MSW from Wayne State University with macro, clinical and school social work experience. I attended San Diego State University and received my BA in psychology with a minor in child development. With 27 years of experience, I have had an opportunity to assist a diverse group of individuals, couples, and families of varying ages and backgrounds. I have addressed mental health, social, emotional and behavior challenges with both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals as well as people with disabilities.

As a certified school social worker, I am available to consult on 504 plans, IEP's, positive behavior support plans and classroom management. I am trained in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and Intervention, functional behavior assessments and the development and implementation of universal and multitiered systems of support. I have developed and facilitated social skill lessons to thousands of students and can privately coach individuals on expected and unexpected behaviors, employment proficiencies along with inter and intrapersonal skills. I am available to facilitate groups and have presented on varies topics around the state, (e.g. gratitude, suicide, LGBTQ, trauma, PBIS, and autism spectrum disorders etc.). Being in the education field for over 25 years I understand the challenges, demands and stress that educators face and I am here to listen and support you as well.

Working closely with the LGBTQIA+ community and understanding firsthand, some of the challenges that you, your parents or family may be facing, only motivates me to assist and educate others who are going through their own challenges. As a trauma informed clinician, I have also learned to look at experiences through a different lens when working with my clients. Trauma can impact both your body and your brain so working through your experience can lead you to a more fulfilling life.

Because we are all unique individuals, I don't believe one single approach is right for everyone. Together we will assess your strengths, goals and needs, develop a plan, and discuss which therapeutic modality may get you to your desired outcome. I typically utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, Strength-Based, Solution Focused, Trauma Focused and/or Mindfulness approaches. Through self-determination and a desire for change we can get you through your struggles and toward a better feeling you! I draw from a variety of therapeutic tools, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, to ensure a holistic approach to your healing and self (or relationship) growth.

For younger clients, I love incorporating play and art therapies to channel their creativity, as these approaches provide a safe and engaging way for them to process emotions, build coping skills, and express themselves in ways that feel natural and comfortable.
