Hi, I’m Tait Sapienza! I’m a student intern in clinical mental health counseling, working toward my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which I’ll complete in 2025. I’m currently gaining hands-on experience at Tree of Life, where I provide counseling services under the supervision of licensed professionals. My journey into mental health counseling comes from a strong background in substance use counseling as a bachelor-level Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a CADC-DP. Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals navigating substance use challenges, facilitated group therapy, and provided individual counseling. I also have experience helping clients work through men’s mental health concerns, adverse childhood experiences, depression, trauma, grief/loss, and anxiety.
I’m passionate about creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard. Together, we’ll explore what’s most important to you and build on your strengths to help you overcome life’s challenges. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, using evidence-based practices like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness techniques. I also weave in person-centered and existential principles, helping clients uncover their values, find meaning, and create lives that feel authentic and fulfilling.
Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, or struggles with self-esteem, I’m here to support you. My goal is to walk alongside you, offering guidance and encouragement as you navigate your unique path toward growth and healing.
Taking the first step to seek help—or continuing your journey with someone new—can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you have questions or are ready to begin, I’d be honored to connect with you and be a part of your journey. Let’s work together to create the life you envision!

Counseling can provide the healing, encouragement, and strength to become the healthiest version of yourself. In my practice, I believe in working with you to reach your highest potential and promoting health in all areas of wellness. As your counselor, it is my mission to make you feel seen, heard, and empowered. I will provide a safe space where we can explore challenges, emotions, and potential solutions. I believe you are capable, and my role as your counselor will be to guide you towards fulfillment in all areas of your life.
My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored to the needs of my clients. People are extremely complex, and so are the challenges we face. With a holistic, strength-based, and person-centered approach we will explore evidence-based techniques for healing that are personalized to you and your goals.
In my previous career, I worked in education as an elementary teacher and behavior specialist. During that time, I gained training and experience working with children and families with a wide range of needs including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. However, I have a passion for providing support to people of all ages and needs - from young children to adults, to couples and families.
I have my Master’s in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan and am an intern working towards my second Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Spring Arbor University. I am trained in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and Intervention, TRAILS CBT and Mindfulness, CBT Essentials, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Restorative Practices, Applied Educational Neuroscience, and Zones of Regulation. I also hold certification as a Yoga Instructor.
Finding healing is a journey that is far from linear, and taking the first step towards seeking help is courageous. If you have any questions about therapy or my practice, please reach out!

Therapy with a stranger can be intimidating and scary, especially for individuals starting for the first time. I aim to create an inviting space filled with warmth and comfort. A space a client can share their challenges and concerns without a fear of judgement and a space a client can feel seen and heard through empathy and unconditional positive regard.
I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. From children and adolescents to adults who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Grief, Family Dynamics, Self-Esteem, Emotional Dysregulation, Anger Management, Eating Disorders, and Sensory difficulties.
I received my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University. As an LLC, I am serving clients under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Prior to my master’s program at Oakland University, I received my bachelor's degree in psychology, minor in family studies and minor in substance abuse disorders, treatments, and preventions from Central Michigan University. I am crisis and non-crisis prevention certified.

Counseling Philosophy
Therapy is an inviting place where every single part of you is welcome, even the parts that are uncomfortable to share. There are two key factors that make counseling successful: empathy from the therapist and trust from the client. Once achieved, the healing process can begin. I am devoted to providing a safe space for you to discuss your deepest concerns and challenges without fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Together, we can create a strong therapeutic alliance and work towards your goals and desired changes.
Counseling Orientation
I use an integrative approach with my clients, meaning that I consider that every client and situation is different and must be treated as so. In doing so, I can use the most effective methods available to address each individual client's needs and wants. The therapy approaches I frequently use are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Strength Based.
Areas of Specialty
I enjoy working with a wide range of clients with varying backgrounds. The clients I typically see are children 5+, adolescents, and adults of any age. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and trauma. We will work together to use your strengths to find solutions to problems, enhance relationships, build confidence, and develop a healthy sense of self.
Qualifications
I am a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC), with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from Wayne State University. I am currently working towards my LPC and am working under the direct supervision of a licensed professional counselor. Prior to enrolling at Wayne State University, I obtained my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Oakland University.

Counseling Philosophy
My approach is rooted in empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. I believe the client is the expert in their own life; however, it takes a village to overcome life’s challenges. I help educate clients about their treatment and give them the tools to impact their daily lives positively. I aim to be a pillar of support to help clients meet their goals and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
Counseling Orientation
My therapeutic orientation is primarily grounded in cognitive-behavioral theory. I aim to explore how negative thought patterns and beliefs can lead to unwanted behaviors and feelings; I seek to align my client’s thoughts, feelings, and actions with their goals. However, I will integrate several approaches if necessary—I believe each client has a unique identity, and my therapeutic interventions will be individualized to meet their goals. In addition, I am dedicated to applying techniques and interventions with a firm evidence base that supports the overall effectiveness and creates the change the clients seek.
Areas of Specialty
I enjoy working with a variety of clients, from children to adults. Specifically, I have a wealth of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and individuals with disabilities. Additional specialty areas include but are not limited to anxiety, anger, depression, ADHD, adjustment issues, and trauma.
Qualifications
I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling from Oakland University. I am a Limited License Counselor (LLC) and receive direct supervision under a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). In addition, I am a fully licensed school counselor.
