As a counselor, I have a unique perspective on trauma and substance abuse, and I bring that perspective to my clients. I have seen firsthand the devastating effects of these issues and am committed to helping those who are struggling to overcome them.
My experience working in the field of substance abuse has taught me that addiction is a complex issue that often involves underlying trauma. I work with my clients to identify the root causes of their addiction and develop strategies for overcoming it.
My counseling philosophy is based on empathy, respect, and a non-judgmental attitude. I believe that every client is unique and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where my clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings.
In my counseling practice, I utilize an integrated approach that draws on a variety of techniques, principles, and theories. I tailor my approach to the specific needs of each client, using evidence-based therapies such as CBT, EMDR, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused Therapies.
As a counselor educator, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation of counselors. I believe that it is essential for counselors to be well-versed in trauma and substance abuse, as these issues are often at the root of many mental health problems.
Overall, my goal as a counselor is to empower my clients to live their best lives. I believe that everyone has the potential to overcome their struggles and thrive, and I am honored to be a part of that journey.

Making the decision to start therapy can be a difficult process. I strive to create a warm, judgment-free environment to help clients ease into their counseling journey. I believe the client is the expert in their own life, and my role as counselor is to be a collaborator as clients make that journey.
My counseling approach is defined as integrated, which means I individualize my approach based on client goals. My primary therapeutic orientations include elements of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution focused techniques, which allow the client to explore their situation, empower them to identify roadblocks that may affect their progress, and seek answers within themselves to meet their goals. Together the client and I will work towards greater self-awareness, improve coping strategies, and build a lasting positive change.
I enjoy working with a variety of clients of all ages. I have experience collaborating with clients seeking counseling for presenting concerns that include: adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, trauma, and career counseling.
Based on personal experience, I have a passion for working with individuals and partners struggling with infertility, perinatal loss, postpartum anxiety and depression, and the adjustment to parenthood. I am currently working toward a certification in Perinatal Mental Health.
I have a Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University, with a focus in clinical mental health counseling. I am currently a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC) in the state of Michigan. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona with a major in journalism and minor in French language

Counseling Philosophy: I believe in looking at the person through a holistic lens of viewing and respecting one’s unique experiences, background, desires, and individuality. I believe that counseling is a place that creates space for a purpose of fostering growth that is already intrinsically alive within the client. It’s a place to explore parts of ourselves we often keep hidden from the surface. To touch the parts that are difficult in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. Counseling to me, is the collaborative effort between client and clinician with the same goal. By giving someone this space to ventilate and explore the innerworkings of their mind they are given the opportunity to grow in self-efficacy, problem solving, developing healthy coping mechanisms, and improving insight.
Counseling Orientation: In appreciation of the individuality of each person, I find that sessions are best served by intentional tailoring to the unique needs of the individual. I utilize evidenced-based therapies such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-focused, and Person-Centered Therapy. Drawing from these theories, I frequently apply skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, exposure, behavioral activation, emotional regulation, and assertiveness training.
Areas of Specialty: I work with a diverse range of individuals, including college students navigating academic and personal pressures, seniors adjusting to life changes, and adults facing issues like anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, anger management, and life transitions. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, interpersonal conflicts, or exploring personal values and faith, I am here to provide empathetic and effective support every step of the way.
Qualifications: I am a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC), with my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Franciscan University with a concentration in Crisis and Trauma Counseling. For undergraduate school, I began exploring my passion for Mental Health by receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Michigan State University.

Counseling Philosophy
Sharing your life story, thoughts, and emotions with a stranger or counselor can be scary and uncomfortable. My goal is to provide clients with a non-judgmental, safe, heard, respected, and supported environment. I believe every client is different and has a special story to tell. I aim to help each client explore their thoughts and emotions, good and bad from their life in a welcoming environment.
Counseling Orientation
I approach counseling with clients like a locked door. Not every locked door can be unlocked with the same key. Different locked doors require different keys to open. What works for one client may not work for another. This means I work with many different approaches. From Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, Psychoanalytic, to Solution Focused. However, my main counseling approach, foundation, is Humanistic, Person Centered. This focuses on the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client. As a counselor my goal will be to build the relationship with my clients by providing an empathic understanding of my client's point of view. I will aim to provide clients with unconditional positive regard in a non-judgmental environment.
Areas of Specialty
I have worked with clients from a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Working together we have overcome and confronted challenges that include anxiety, depression, grief, organizational skills and focusing, communication and career struggles. I have also worked with clients on confidence struggles, family, and partner conflict.

Counseling Philosophy
Safe, respected, valued, and understood – these are the emotions that clients experience when they feel connected with their counselor. These emotions, which can be thought of as basic “principles of care,” also serve as the bedrock for the therapeutic alliance. Upholding these principles is my priority. Doing so allows my clients to take brave steps into the unknown, to explore terrain that can be full of fears and frustrations, to formulate solutions where none could originally be conceived. Together, we map this landscape and learn from its features – until the time my clients feel ready to continue the journey on their own.
Counseling Orientation
While worries and challenges can sometimes seem specific and/or localized, we function as whole beings. We possess a heart, a brain, a spirit or soul, and a body. For growth to occur, I believe that we need to attend to all the parts of our being so that we can understand how difficulties are manifesting – and how they can most effectively be addressed. To that end, I draw on a variety of counseling approaches including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology, and Person-Centered Therapy.
Areas of Specialty
I work with clients from a broad range of backgrounds. Together we have confronted challenges that include anxiety, depression, academic and workplace struggles, major life changes, family conflict, and self-esteem and confidence issues. My clients include children ages 10 and up, adolescents, and adults of all ages.
Qualifications
I am a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC), with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayne State University. Prior to beginning my graduate studies at WSU, I worked as a high school English teacher for fifteen years.

Deciding on therapy is a step toward self-improvement. Deciding on a therapist is the next step in that pursuit. It is important to find a therapist that will provide an environment that allows you to share, collaborate, and ultimately, grow. I believe that therapy can help provide an additional perspective, which can bolster self-awareness and foster individual growth. My goal is for clients to feel safe and comfortable to explore areas of their lives they wish to better understand or improve.
