Counseling Philosophy
Choosing to begin counseling to heal, adjust, transform and empower your life is a huge step. I believe that every individual is capable of this and I am here to assist in a safe, understanding and nonjudgmental way by creating a supportive environment for you to work through life’s toughest moments and their impact on your daily living.
Counseling Orientation
I practice from an integrative approach, which means that I use tools and techniques from the counseling field that are most appropriate for the client based on their individual needs, experiences and goals for treatment. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused therapies.
Areas of Specialty
I specialize in Grief and Loss, Cancer, Care-giving, Chronic Illness and End Of Life. I also specialize in working with Children, Teens, Special Education and Disabilities.
In addition, this often encompasses areas of self-esteem building, emotional/behavioral development, depression, anxiety, adjustment, relationship issues, family conflict and anger management.
Qualifications
I am a Licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a Master’s in Counseling from Wayne State University. I am nationally certified by the NBCC.
I am also a fully licensed teacher in the state of Michigan in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder K-12, Emotional Impairment K-12, K-8 Self Contained, and K-5 Elementary General Ed.
