Counseling Philosophy

Making the decision to begin counseling can be a difficult step. Clients trust me with the most personal and private details of their life and I honor that by creating a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. I hope that each client that I encounter feels supported and knows that the sessions are their time to work on difficult issues in their life.

Counseling Orientation

I practice from an integrated perspective. This means that the techniques, principles and theories used are not ones used because it is what I prefer but are ones that are the best fit for the client. I believe the client drives treatment and I am there therapeutically to facilitate insight and  into their life and help the client develop solutions to thier issues.

I most frequently use CBT, EMDR, Person-Centered and Solution-Focused Therapies.

Areas of Specialty

I specialize in Trauma and Substance Abuse. But this will include many other areas in the course of treatment including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, anger management, conflict resolution and many others.

Qualifications

I am a fully licensed professional counselor, nationally certified by NBCC, am  EMDR trained and have my CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
