Counseling is a process of bringing about change through a unique type of relationship with a counseling professional. My goal is to have this relationship be tailored to the needs of each client, with basic structures of confidentiality, trust, safety, genuineness, support and an accepting/non-judgmental atmosphere.
I am an eclectic therapist, meaning I have knowledge of multiple psychological theories. Through the integration of multiple approaches, I can meet the needs of a wide variety of clients. As sessions progress, the client and I develop a relationship as the working bench for change happen, and I develop therapeutic interventions as tools the client can choose to use in crafting a new experience and relief from emotional pain.
Areas of specialty
I treat a variety of issues, a majority involving depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and personality difficulty. I specialize in treating substance use and those impacted by substance users, with clients ranging from age 11 and up. I see children, adults, couples and families.
I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayne State University. I am licensed by the State of Michigan as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor.
I have nearly three years of experience as a residential Substance Abuse Counselor with practical knowledge of substance use/dual diagnosis treatment modalities. I am currently working toward becoming a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
